Vintage Style

One of my favorite styles is the Vintage look. There are really a lot of techniques you can use to achieve that "shabby chic" look.

Party Favors!

The beautiful lady in the center is my mom, Gloria. The condominium complex where my folks live has a pretty active group of residents. One of the events they hold a couple of times a year is a luncheon and some of the women take turns organizing it. Mom and Rita (the lovely lady to the left of my mom) are "hosting" the luncheon in February. As soon as they saw one of the birdhouses made with the new Mini Milk Carton Bigz Die, they wanted to make them as favors for everyone. One of the Sparklers, Angie sitting to the right of Mom), came over to help. We finished all 21 bird houses!

It's Magic!

Even though we are in the midst of winter, it's fun to create spring projects! It gives me hope that warmer weather is on the way! We made this Magic Slider Card at Hostess Club this month. Let me know if you want to learn how to make it!

Eggcellent Eggs Kit

One of the fun new kits in the Occasions Mini Catalog is the Eggcellent Eggs Kit. I decorated some eggs for the Open House and made a card with the leftover pieces. The kit comes with die cut flowers, rub-ons, and self adhesive backed rhinestones! Love the bling!! The unfortunate thing is that this item is a while supplies last! Once it's gone, it's gone!

Fabirc and the Big Shot - More Samples!

Inspired by the Textiles display at Leadership, I dug out some fabric scraps and started playing. The flower on the canvas bag and the three flower pins were made using the XL Flower Folds Die. I die cut 2 each , off-set them a bit and stitched them together in the center. The centers of the flowers are filled with Rhinestone Brads.

I used fleece to make the big flower on one of the canvas bags. The heart on the other bag was made using the 4-Petal Card die. I cut off 2 of the "petals" to form the heart and then used WonderUnder to put it on the bag.

Fabric and the Big Shot!

I mentioned in a post a few days ago that one of the most interesting displays at Leadership was on Textiles. Each of us were given a quilt block made using the Pointed Star die. The point of the star is under the center of the flower. How fun is this? Using dies to cut fabric pieces! You can cut up to 8 layers of fabric at one time!

Below are a hot pad and a pillow that were on display as well. Tomorrow, I'll post some things I made!

More Open House displays!

I've had so much fun making things for the Open House! I couldn't decide which of these to post today so thought I would post both! I will post the Make & Take card tomorrow!

One of the new items in the Occasions Mini are On-Board Books. There are 3 shapes: birds, scallop circles and hearts. I took 2 of the heart pages and made a heart shaped box and filled it with Hershey Kisses. I covered the top with the Sending Love Specialty designer series paper and made the flowers using the new Extra Large Fancy Flower punch and With All My Heart stamp set. I made the bow with the new Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon.

One of the Sparklers, Angela, made this banner using the Pennant die that we hung from the mantel. Isn't it great? Now I really want that die!!!

Textiles and the Big Shot!

One of the most interesting displays at Leadership last week was the "Textiles" Display. I usually focus on paper crafting but was absolutely amazed at all of the items this demonstrator made with fabric and the Big Shot! This welcome banner was made with different fabrics and different dies. WonderUnder was used to adhere the die cut pieces to the banner and our Corduroy buttons were used as embellishments in the center of the flowers.

It's hard to believe that Leadership is over!! It was a wonderful conference! Over the next several days I will share some of the projects we made and saw! The following photos are from check-in day. We made our make & takes at the end of the day (after swapping and shopping at Memento Mall!) The top photo is the 8x8 scrap book page we made. Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit Die

I've been having fun playing with this new embosslit! In this card, I die cut the big heart with Vellum card stock and layered in on top of Melon Mambo card stock. It takes on the tones of Rose Red! So the ribbon and Rose Red card stock were perfect to complete the card. The small hearts are punched out of the Whisper White with the new small heart punch.

Check In for Leadership begins today! I am really excited to be heading to the Convention Center in a few hours! We will be making our make & takes in the late afternoon. I will post them within the next days!
