Claire's Birthday Invitation

I've been a little busy here in Champaign helping my daughter but before Anna Rose was born, Julie & I collaborated on Claire's invitation for her upcoming 5th birthday. Claire picked the Sweet Scoops stamp set, and wanted Pretty in Pink as the main color. We used the Lattice Square embossing folder from the Summer Mini to give some texture to the card. Julie will add the important information to the inside of the invitation.

Yummy!

The temperature is finally approaching normal highs for this time of year. As the weather gets warmer, the lines at the ice cream stands grows longer! Hmmm....maybe we need a trip to Bob-Jo's this evening!!!

Any Day Now...

Today is our daughter, Julie's due date. We are patiently (smile) waiting for "the call". We can't wait to meet our 8th grandchild! Baby Girl will join siblings Thomas, Claire & Elise!. In the meantime, here is a card that Julie designed. I just live this sketch! I've used it with snowflakes for Christmas cards, leaves for fall themed cards - it is a very versatile card!

Another use for the Slit Punch

One of my hostesses showed this technique to me at her workshop a few weeks ago. Thanks, Beth!

  • Fold Bermuda Bay card stock in half.
  • Insert Slit Punch in as far as it will go and punch. Line up the edge of the punch with the edge of the punched slit. Continue punching along entire edge of card. This will leave even spacing between slits.
  • Fold card over exposing the half circles as shown. Apply Snail adhesive between each punched slit on the inside of the fold. Adhere a 1" strip of Whisper White card stock so that half of the circle is white and half is Bermuda Bay.
  • Adhere 5 1/2. x 4 1/4 " piece of Whisper White card stock to the inside of the card.
  • Punch out Butterfly from Bermuda Bay Prints designer series paper and adhere to 4 3/4 x 2 3/4 " piece of Whisper White card stock.
  • Stamp butterfly trail from Flight of the Butterfly in Bermuda Bay ink under the butterfly and adhere this to the front of the card.
  • Stamp smaller butterflies on the inside of the card if desired.

Retiring Colors

Several weeks ago, Stampin' Up! announced the Color Renovation. This process will retire 27 colors, introduce 5 new Core Colors, and bring back several In-Colors from this current year and the past couple of years.

In a message posted on the Demonstrator Web site, the retiring colors are going fast! In fact, some colors are already gone! It was hoped that there was enough inventory to cover the month of May but that is not happening. So....if there are retiring colors you want, please order them now!

Here is a link to the pdf with the retiring colors

While we are talking about what is going to retire, the Last Chance List for retiring stamps will be out on June 1. For the past several years, I have held a contest. Send me a list of 10 stamps you think are going to retire. The stamper with the most correct answers will win a $25 gift certificate! The deadline to send me your list is May 31. In case of a tie, the stamper who sent their list first will win! You can e-mail your list to me at susan@la-croix.net. One final note: All of the hostess sets automatically retire every year so these sets do not count! Good Luck!

Printed Petals

This is the card we made on the cruise. The tiny stamped images are from a stamp set that will be in the new Idea Book & Catalog being released in July. The name of the stamp set is Printed Petals. The dark red images are the new Cherry Cobbler card stock. I don't know the name of the stamp set we used for the greeting but I sure do like the font!!!

This year I gave my mother and my mother-in-law a Simply Adorned charm and necklace along with 5 different images to put in the charm. These charm inserts were a lot of fun to make!
